What Type of Hearing Evaluation Is Right for You?
Hearing testing isn’t one-size-fits-all. The type of evaluation that’s right for you depends on your hearing concerns, what you’ve been experiencing, and how much information is needed to understand your hearing.
At Salus Hearing & Tinnitus Centre, we offer different levels of hearing evaluation—from a basic hearing screening to a comprehensive assessment of your hearing and communication needs.
Hearing Screening
Approximately 30 minutes
A hearing screening is a good starting point if you want a basic check of your hearing or would like to establish a baseline for future comparison.
Your appointment includes:
- A visual check inside your ears
- Tympanometry to assess middle-ear function
- A basic hearing check across the frequencies important for understanding speech
- A review of your results
If your screening identifies something that requires a closer look, we’ll explain what we found and recommend the appropriate next step.
Hearing Test
Approximately 45 minutes
A hearing test provides a more detailed picture of your hearing across a broader range of frequencies and may be appropriate if you’ve noticed changes in your hearing or simply want a more thorough hearing check.
Your appointment includes:
- A visual check inside your ears
- Tympanometry to assess middle-ear function
- Hearing testing across the conventional hearing range
- Extended high-frequency hearing testing
- A review and explanation of your results
We’ll help you understand what your results mean and whether monitoring, further assessment, or another next step may be appropriate.
Comprehensive Hearing Healthcare Assessment
Approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours
For individuals who need a more in-depth evaluation, our Comprehensive Hearing Healthcare Assessment goes beyond a standard hearing test.
Rather than looking only at your ability to hear individual sounds, this comprehensive assessment takes a deeper look at your hearing health and how you hear and communicate in everyday life.
You’ll have time to discuss your hearing concerns, understand your results, ask questions, and receive personalized recommendations based on your hearing and communication needs.
